Meegan Burbank

Elect Meegan Burbank Lincoln County Probate Judge

  • Meegan Burbank is a native Mainer who was raised in Lincoln County. She graduated from Medomak Valley High School and earned her law degree from William & Mary Law School in Williamsburg, Virginia. She returned to Maine as soon as she graduated and has practiced law since 2000.
  • Meegan is a partner at Berry & Burbank in Boothbay Harbor, where she practices law with former probate judge Tom Berry. Her areas of practice include trusts and estates, guardianships and family law, civil and criminal litigation, real estate and corporate law. She practices in Probate, District, and Superior Courts, and also handles appeals to the Maine Law Court.
  • Meegan is the president of the Lincoln County Bar Association and the Lincoln and Sagadahoc County representative on the Board of Governors of the Maine Bar Association.
  • Meegan is admitted to practice in Maine and in U.S. District Court for the District of Maine.
  • Meegan provides dozens of hours of pro bono legal services each year through the Volunteer Lawyers Project, by private requests, and as a volunteer attorney for the Courthouse Assistance Projects in Lincoln and Sagadahoc Counties.

Meegan’s goals as Probate Judge

  • Meegan firmly believes that every litigant should have an opportunity to be heard by a judge who is listening with a focused, open mind.
  • Meegan is resolved to organize the probate docket to provide more frequent touchpoints with the judge, to prevent cases from becoming stagnant on the docket, and to decrease the overall time between filing and final court order.
  • Meegan believes that an increase in structured, court ordered mediation will lead to decreased spending for Lincoln County taxpayers.
  • Meegan is committed to working with the Maine State Bar Association and the Lincoln County Bar Association to ensure that more attorneys practicing in and near Lincoln County are trained and available for court appointments in probate matters to increase access to quality legal representation.
  • Meegan is not affiliated with any political party and promises to keep politics out of court when she is elected as Probate Judge. She believes that the highly charged partisan environment in which we find ourselves today should never impact a judge’s decision in any case. Her allegiance is to the US and Maine Constitutions and laws, and to justice in Lincoln County.
